rough idle

My 2003 2500Hd Sierra started acting up yesterday, rough idle when in gear, first thing that happened was I drained the battery down listening to the radio with the key turned on, then I got a jump start, I was also getting low on fuel,had some with me that I planned on putting in but ended up giving it to the friend who gave me the jump. So I have replaced the fuel filter,the old did seem a little restricted but it still does'nt like to idle while in gear , seems to do ok in park but with the brake on and in gear it idles rough and dies. whats next?

First thing I would do is clean the throttle plate.

Ok ,would spraying carb cleaner in the TB work?

well removed the throttle plate and cleaned it and cleaned out the throat and its running fine. thanks for the help and good call.

ChevyTech007 - wanted to say thanks as well. I had a rough idle too after battery failed. Strange. Cleaned throttle plate with some Seafoam, and it runs like a charm now.

have you used seafoam in tank or engine before? Good results?

know some use it in jeeps by sucking it into engine. suppose to give off lots of smoke but when done runs much better.
