c502cid Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 When I put my overhead camper on my new 2006 3500, I lose my Onstar and XM. When I'm camping is when I want them both the most. Any suggestions? Someone must have had this issue before me. Thanks for the help.
gave20 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 The camper is blocking the signal so you'll have to move the antenna or setup an auxiliary one. The aftermarket XM antennas are smaller and maybe the best location is by the FM/AM antenna on the fender or A-pillar.
2kwolfgang Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Not sure about the Onstar. For the XM though... buy an aftermarket antenna and install it on the camper. Run the wire down the front of the camper by where you connect your lights to your truck. If the wire is long enough you could run it under the bed of your truck and into the cab from there then hook up both anteannas to a toggle switch to select which one to use. Kind of an extreme solution but it would work...
