Hypertech Power Programmer III

I recently ordered a hypertech programmer for my 2005 GMC Sierra 1500 ECSB Z71 with the aluminum block 5.3 engine or "B" motor as it is designated in the VIN number. To make a long story short, the thing didn't work. After speaking to the Hypertech people, they say that there is no programming available for the aluminum 5.3 "B" engine in the pick-up trucks, only the Denali. They didn't even know that GM was putting the aluminum block 5.3 in the pick-ups!!! So i'm stuck with a programmer that doesn't work because Truckaddons.com won't take it back as a returned item, nor will they give me any store credit! I highly discourage people from purchasing anything from this company. They were rude and abusive when I called to get help, accused me of trying to defraud them, and refused to make it right with me! I reported them to the Kentucky Better Business Bureau.

I have an 04 sierra 5.3 ext. cab z71 but not sure if i have the (B) engine or not. I would check with hypertech maybe they will help you out. If not would you consider selling the programer if so how much. Either way good luck.

That's wierd because I had one before you posted that worked with my 05 Chevy with the 5.3 aluminum. The first one I got didn't work. I called Hypertech and they told me they weren't supporting the aluminum engines yet, but that they would shortly. This was in January 05. I returned it and got another one about a month later. The second one worked fine. I sold it about a year later when I got my custom tune. Maybe chevy's are different from gmc's.

I had some problem with Truckaddons once... Same situation like yours, the first GMC power programmer that I got is not working properly at all... Got it replaced but it took me a month to get it replaced... Since then, I never visited them... Really poor service... :flag:

Hypertechs have a model#, 3005 for example and also a revision#. You could have the correct model# but the wrong revision#. This happened to me with a used Hypertech which I bought. It was an early version of the 3005 which should work on a '99 and 2000 GMC 5.3. It did'nt work because only the later revision worked on a '99. I had a hard time convincing the seller that I had a legit problem but he called Hypertech and agreed to refund my money. Some people buy them, install the tune and try to return them with it locked to their VIN.

Since my first post (as toyoman28), Truckaddons.com did finally make good on the deal. They sent me the correct Programmer and it works. It's amazing how effective the BBB really is! These online companies have to respect the Better Business Bureau's heavy hitting tactics....! If your having problems getting satisfaction and your are totally justified in being dis-satisfied, contact the BBB, they will help you! The Truckaddons company rep actually contacted me at my workplace to apologize for my problems w/ them and offered store credit.

Cheers and happy motoring!

For anybody considering buying anything from truckaddons.com go here. They are con artists and after they get your money they leave you hanging. After reading this I guess truckaddons.com saw all the business they were losing, and decided to up the customer service.
