jsheppard5 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 Bought truck a month ago. On my way to Orange tx from Round Rock tx, the check engine light came on. Slight loss of power, but still running smooth. No knocking. Hooked up scan tool and got P0327. This was happened half way between Austin and Houston Tx. Took truck to Dealer in Orange tx for repair first thing this morning. Does not have parts in stock and cannot work on it till Wednesday. I have to leave here and head home Wednesday morning. Tech told me that my truck may stall and not start again. Is this correct? Seems to me like the truck went into "backup mode" and seems to be running ok. It has a slight loss of power and no pinging at all. Need advise.... should I call my boss and say I will be gone an extra day or should I be ok driving home..... By the way, the light went off on the way back to my relatives house from the dealer and its running great right now.
ChevyTech007 Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I would say all you need is the front knock sensor. I think it will be OK to drive.
Indy Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I got the same code the day after I washed my engine. The knock sensors are in a valley on top of the engine under the intake. I thought the water had corroded a contact or something, apparently quite common. I drove it for a few days and everything dried out and no more CEL. It's been fine for over a year. If the light does not come back on you should be good to go without replacing the sensor.

So if we don't wash our engines, then this will never happen? Seems like gm would revise the sensor so it would not be so quick to fail. I feel it is necessary to wash under the hood once or twice a year.
