Can anyone confirm fitment of 295/75-16?

I'm going to crank the torsion bars up 1"-2", but other than that I probably wont be doing any sort of suspension or body lift. I'm thinking about getting a set of 295/75-16 Nitto Terra Grapplers mounted on 16"x8" (still a bit undecided on specific model). I'm sure these tires will clear, but how much trimming would be required? If I would have to do a lot of cutting I'll probably just stick with 285's.

I've pretty much narrowed the wheels down to two styles. One has an offset of 0mm and the other is -6mm. Both are 8" wide. Which would be easier to clear?

Take a look at this member over at Chevytruckworld. He runs 305s in the summer and 295's in the winter.

I just installed 265/75/16 dunlop mud rovers on 16x8 moto metal wheels on my 05 HD and I have a terrible rub when I back up the side lugs on the tires rub. Did minor fender triming on the lower skirt but it still rubs, plan on cranking the t-bars about 1" to see if it helps. I think the wheels have 4" backspacing also.

My buddy runs a set of 295/75/16 Nitto TerraGrapplers on the stock rim of his 2002 2500HD and his only rubs when making a sharp turn while reversing. He has not done any trimming or cranked his t-bars.

I run a 285/75/16 tire on the stock rims of my 2003 and the only place I had to trim was the oem mudflaps. I have not cranked my t-bars.

There is only a slight difference in size between the 285 and the 295 tires, less than an inch or so. Your biggest factor is your rim size. The stockers are only 6.5" wide. Your on the right track because you need to find a wheel offset that will allow you to fit the extra 1.5" of rim width. If my buddy had a wider wheel his would definitely rub, but so would my 285's.

So long story short, the 295/75/16's will fit a 2500HD on the stock rims.

Since I have no intention of keeping the stock wheels should I just stick with the 285's? I'm starting to get the idea that 295's may be pushing my luck without a lift kit.

If you don't mind cranking the t-bars and doing a little trimming, then you should be able to fit the 295's. As I said in my earlier post, my buddy runs the same tire and size that you want without any modification on the stock rim. I have 285's that only rub because they are hitting the mud flaps I put on the truck. I just trimmed the mud flaps.

So, if you crank your t-bars and are willing to trim if necessary, you should not have a problem even though you are going with a wider wheel as long as you get the correct offset and backspacing.

Think about it this way. If you get the 285's and they fit with room to spare, are you gonna be wishing you bought the bigger tires? If not, then go with the 285's because they will definitely fit.

Thanks. I'm still going back and forth a bit on whether I want to lift the truck or not. I have so many other hobbies and investments that money could be going to that I will probably just crank the torsion bars a bit and call it a day. If I stay stock height I think I'll just stick with the 285's.

i am running 315's with the torsion bars cranked up and only had to do a little bit of trimming to the bottom of the air dam and the corner of the mud flaps.so i don't think you should have much of a problem.the tires i am running are the toyo open country m/t's

I installed 33.0" BFG Mud Terrains LT285/75R16/E. I did crank up on the t-bars abit to level the truck out and trimmed the front air dam a tiny bit for turn clearance but that was it, things are close but nothing hits.

Recommend going to BFG website and downloading spec sheet, it gives you all the rim size/tire size specs.

In BFG, the LT295/75R16D = 33.2" slightly larger than my 285's.

Looks better, ride is better, gas milage is WORSE, lots higher to climb into it. If I had to do it again, I would have gone with only 31.5's and kept a bit more power. These taller tires take you out of the powerband for freeway driving. Cruise control goes nuts going down I5 from Pismo to San Fran bay area.
