upgrading speakers and adding amp

Id like to get more volume from my current stock stereo system and have decided to replace the stock speakers and add an amp.

I would like to install some infinity kappa 6.5 components in both doors, and a 6" powered bazooka or small clarion/kenwood powered sub under the rear seat. Id like to run a good 4 channel amp (kenwood, alpine, or hifonics) for the components and have the amp send the necessary output for the sub.

I plan on running the amp interface (#AOEM-GM24) from jpcustoms.com so I can keep my stock harness intact. I also want to run new wires for the speakers so I dont alter the factory wiring.

I havent tried to put together a truck audio system for years and would like some opinions on my plan. My main concerns are any excessive draw from the alternator, the loss of the low gas/key in ignition/lights on chime, and the ease of installation.

Any/All comments are appreciated.

Not sure what cab you have. If it is an extended cab a 10" Infinity Basslink will fit nicely under half the rear seat and is under $200 on eBay. I don't think people got it to fit in the crew cabs. It sounds better then the Punch 100 and 2 10" I had in there previously from my old truck.

Instead of tapping in at the battery you can pull from the fuse box under the hood. If you lift the top part out, where all the fuses all, there are connectors there to add things and a place to stash an inline fuse. That keeps everything very nice in appearence. Underneath the insulation on the firewall around the steering column is a indent you can drill out and run your battery cable through.

It seems the louder you make the stock stereo the less bass it has. I guess this protected the factory speakers. Only thing I hate about my stereo.
