After driving my 2001 2500HD for about 20min it will not resart after shut off. The only way to get it to start is to cycle the key 8-10 times.

I thought it was the fuel pump or filter and have replaced them both.

Please help.

I've had a similar problem. GM replaced the pump & "module" and three days later the truck did the same thing. It hasn't "failed to start" in a while now but I'd like to check that fuel pump relay for myself. Where is it located?

When I started this post I stated that the truck would restart after cycling the key. Now it dies going down the road and will not restart untill after about 30-40 min. :):chevy: The truck is not hot temp wise but I think it may be electronics getting hot. The engine is the 8.1 liter w/ Allison. The truck has been at a shop and I have not heard if they have found anything. I can not afford a dealer to look at it so if anyone has anything please post back!!!

Man oh Man. It sounds like you can't afford NOT to take your truck to a dealer. I see it all the time. You will spend all your money at that indy and when your at your wits end you will bring it to a dealer and they will fix it in no time. It really is a sad that people have the misconception that indies are cheaper. :banghead: . Sometimes I find it kinda funny and I have made a lot of money on indy rejects. You know, the ones that after they suck your money and then they say its in the "computer" system and you will have to go to the dealer. Please pay your bill. . OK, I will step off my soap box now. Sounds like you need a crank sensor. I have seen it many times. Be very careful, it can break off in the block and it is a real pain to get out if it breaks. Good luck and post back with any problems.
