splash guards

can not decide on putting factory GMC splash guards on my sierra.I had them on my 05 colorado and they looked good.What do you guys think?do most of you put them on your trucks?I have an 06 z71 ext cab short box

I have 'em on my 06 ecsb. looks fine to me. but then mud/splash guards are really a subjective thing. some love them, others hate them

I put mine on simply for lowering the rock chips. dark color truck + bad gravel roads = no good for paint.

I don't really like or dislike them. I put them on though because after less than 5,000 miles, I already had numerous chips in the paint behind my wheels.

If you don't want chips, then you could go over to Wal*Mart or someplace and get some DIY bedliner and just roll that onto the underside of the rear fenders. Just another idea...

I put a set of Husky's on the rear (only) of my '06 Sierra Long Box. I really don't like the look, that's why I did the rear and not the front. The rear needs it, kicks up a lot of crap onto the fender. The front really doesn't. I got the Huskys from TrickTruckMan.com. Cost $33.00 with shipping. They seem well made and designed.

I don't like the look of them but I do like the functionality, I put some plain ones from Autozone, or Pepboys, for around 10$ a pair. I attached them to the fender lip, so when you look at the side of the truck they are barely noticeable, but work VERY well, especially for the cost.

I've always put splash guards (A.K.A. "Mud-Flaps") on all my trucks.

I use to put the "flat" kind on (Like asilverblazer has on his) But on my '04 I put the GM molded ones on because I have the black textured flares and the spash guards and flares together seem to "compliment" each other,especially since they both have the same "texture" to them.

Coming from Western Pa. you almost need to put something on your truck due to all the salt and cinders in the wintertime and all the pebbles and stones from when PennDOT "tar & chips" roads in the summertime.

One word of caution,If you do not have the flares and decide to put on the molded guards you may want to put on some kind of clear protective film where the guards come into contact with the paint,We've seen some issues of the paint getting rubbed off because of slight movement of the guards against the paint.

My buddies having this issue now with his '03,He has just over 44,000 miles on his truck and the molded guards have rubbed a little bit of paint off each fender,Nothing major and theres no rust or nothing but still its an issue that needs addressed.

+1 here. The husky's are molded and come with the clear protective film. If they have to be there, they look pretty good.

I used splash/ mud guards to give my truck a custom look. Yep you gotta be carefull though for it may harm your truck's polish/paint

I put the GM aftermarket splash guards on my white 07 Suburban. They went on very easily and you would think it came from the factory that way. I wouldn't have bothered with a darker paint color truck like my green 02 Z71, but with bright white paint I had to. It might be hard to see, but you might be able to see them in my signature pic.

Hi, I put the factory molded ones from the dealer on. I wasn't a big fan of gaurds in the first place, but I like them now. DO NOT tighten them to the 18 newton meters (25lbs) like the directions say. I did it like it said, and the bolts went right through the gaurds themselves. My problem now it I'm hearing that they can chafe the paint. Wish I knew that BEFORE I installed them.
