Most any car parts store will read these for no charge.

IMO its definitely not a good idea to ignore it for any amount of time...

I figured that they would charge to hook it up. Thats why i havent done it. I'm pretty broke right now. Hoping i could maybe check it myself.

When my check engine ligth came on, the local Autozone guy told me it was O2 sensor. Yeah, he was right. However, since a d**n dog chewed on the cable, it obviously wasn't faulty from the manufacturer so I had to come up with the 283 bucks to get it taken care of (not mad at the dealer, just people's animals that they don't control).

Ok went to Autozone and here is what they said.

I have two codes. One was cylinder misfire and the other was this

The PCM Has determined that the catalyst system efficiency for bank 2 is below threshold for the current engine operating conditions. (Bank 1 identifies the locaiton of cylinder 1, while bank 2 identifies the cylinders on the opposite bank.

The guy said it could very possible be an oxygen sensor. Well would the sensor be reading bad if one of my cylinders wasnt hitting right? also i have 2 censors in this area and i have no idea how to tell which one could be bad. Anyone have any suggestions here? I know a mechanic is probably going to charge an arm and leg to do this.

I have already changed all my spark plugs and it didnt seem to help much. Maybe a little but def. not the problem.

You might try some injector cleaner on it. I doubt the O2 sensors would set off a misfire code, but the opposite is certainly possible.

I had the same code come up on my 02 Z71 & my 02 Sub. In both cases it was the cats.

If You are under 5yrs 80k it is still under warranty. Hope this helps.

Well turned out it was my passenger side cat. They changed it for 200 bucks. Not too bad i dont guess. Now my truck runs better than i can remember. I just hope that it doesnt happen again. Is there anything i can do to help prevent this or does this just happen?
