New squeel getting louder

Nice rig

I noticed a couple days ago a new noise coming from I believe my left front wheel during a right hand turn. Now it is getting louder and sounds like crap, happens when turning right and only on occasion turning left. :chevy: Like I said it is getting louder and haven't been able to get into it and check it out. I looked on the inboard side of the wheel and see no evidence of scraping or rubbing on the wheel, so maybe the cv joint on the left side...I'm going to try and shoot some grease in all the points on the left side before digging into it. :)

Well, just like all other times the problem seems to have fixed itself. But I still got under and took a look and saw nothing out of the ordinary...rotors looked fine, plenty of pad left on the brakes. It wasn't clicking like a cv joint gone bad...befaddled. d**n gremlins :)

The noise resurfaced again today, I'll head to the parts store and pick up some grease and a new bearing for the left side. I'll let you know in a day or two if that's it. Thanks for the replies :banghead:

Well I went to the parts store at lunch time about getting a new wheel bearing. HOLY CRAP, everyone I talk to say I can't just get a bearing...it comes with the whole hub: $399 at dealership, $347 at autozone...and I'm not even positive this is the root of the problem. :banghead: Is there a way I can re-pack the bearing/hub with grease by disassembly or am I screwed out of $400. I plan on getting it up on jackstands when I get home and do some tinkering  to see if I can see anything obvious.

Well I got it up on jackstands and got the wheel off, there seems to be no obvious marks from anything rubbing, brakes have lots of meat left on them. I lubed up all the points on the left front and took it for a test drive and guess what...yup it's still there. How do I check for a recall for the front brakes on it...call the dealership? I really don't want to fork out 400 clams if I don't have to. Well on a different note I'm going to order a waitforme tune, :banghead: got a birthday check in the mail from momma and plan on putting it to some good use. Maybe that will take care of my problem  . Take it light and I'll keep y'all posted

I looked on Ebay for replacements and there are CV Axle replacement but the whole right CV Axle, no internal parts for CV axle.. :banghead:

Usually if the CV is going out it will give you a clicking sound. I still haven't done anything else with the problem...been kinda laid up (vasectomy). I've been looking around and found hubs for around $200...plan on doing it myself.

I had the exact same issue on mine. I wanted it looked at while it was still under warranty so I took it to the dealer and of course couldn't hear it. So after my repeated insistence they replaced the left front hub. Picked it up and the noise was still there. Since I knew they were deaf I bought a manual and stumbled on the picture of the rear emergency brake. I always thought it used the caliper but it's actually a brake shoe that sits inside the back of the hub and works like a drum brake instead. What had happened was the shoe had worn down to the metal on one side and worn a groove in the hub. So when you made a turn the axle moved just enough to make the edge of the shoe rub the edge of the groove. My guess is it was never lined up properly from the factory because the other side of the shoe had a lot of lining left. Since the brake lining looked like it would be thicker than the groove I replaced just the brake shoe and the noise disappeared. Didn't leave me with much faith in the factory or the service dept, or the engineers for that matter since the design lets mud and dirt get inside there and gunk it up.

That should be a whole new topic.... i had that problem back in 03...

I found the way to find that pesky noise issue... just find a shop with a car port with a hole in the ground (some oil change shops) and drive back and fourth... I heard it and it was my transfer case  ...
