I think the silverado went to s##t starting in '03, and it still doesn't appeal to me. :) I'll keep my 2000 and just fix whatever comes up until they can put out one that looks better. Who needs GPS anyways...we never get lost. :chevy:

Looks like I'll be keeping the '04 for a while.. only thing I don't like about it is the trans.. and guess what didn't change with the NBS? :)

I actually like it about 10x better than that red one that first popped up like it better than the 03-06's, and yah who needs a nav screen, id rather them take the extra 500$ that the screen costs to install and do something better mechanically oh well at first i was seriously worried now im waiting till they get the kinks out so i can get me one

The Chevy front end looks better than the current model, but not as good as the model that ended in '02. The bed just doesn't look right with the huge fender flares and also looks awkward with the cab. As previously stated, it looks like a larger Colorado, which is not the best looking truck on the road. Interior looks to be of a slightly higher quality material, but still not up to par with other manufacturers.

The GMC's do look a little better than the Chevy, but still to many of the same styling points bring the GMC down. I prefer the current model GMC better than the new version.

Overall the truck is okay in the style dept., but will not win an award for the best looking truck on the market.

I completely agree.

I actually thought that distant, fuzzy pic of the red one looked better than the clear, closeup shots we've got now.

I sent my wife the pics. She knows I've been kind of excited about the new body style coming out since I've been telling her about all the new advances like fully boxed frame, side curtain airbags, increased stiffness, safety, rear windows on ext cab roll down, etc. She immediately asked me what I think. I told her I wanted her opinion first, and then I'd tell her mine. She said, "uh well, it's kind of boxy, what do you think?" Honestly, I think "boxy" is an understatement. I think they look horrible. So she told me, "I think our truck looks a million times better, but that's just me". As someone who was really looking forward to seeing the new ones, unfortunately I had to agree with her.

Well, I do like the looks of the 07 Avalanche, Tahoe, and Suburban. I originally thought that front clip could possibly be swapped onto a Silverado so if the new nose is ugly, that wasn't a huge deal. Even if were possible to swap to a Tahoe clip, the bulges and creases on the bed wouldn't match. With all the bulges and creases on the new trucks, it looks like they were trying to make an uglier, boxier version of the Titan. If I were going to buy a brand new truck today, it would probably be a Ford. Good thing I have no plans to buy a brand new truck!

If anyone has read any of my previous posts on the new body style, you know I am not exactly a fan. I think the Chevy looks much better with the chrome piece under the grill painted the same color as the truck. But it is still one ugly truck. The GMC looks much better but it still falls into the ugly catagory. I bet if you put the Ford oval on the grill it would look more natural than the bowtie. It is really to bad. Oh well, I have 5 years left to pay on my truck so I can only hope that by the time I am ready to purchase a new truck the body style will have changed for the better by that time.

$500 for a nav screen...I don't think so. Priced out a Tahoe / Burban and if I remember right, the nav system is somewhere north of $1,800! Granted, has backup camera and some cool stuff, but come on. I can get a Garmin WITH the CD's for around $400. No Nav system for me.

Me thinks the nav system is the "scotchguard" or "undercoating" of our generation. Trying to hose you and make some $$$

I hated the way the new style looked in that pic with the red truck but it's already starting to grow on me with these new pictures.

    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
    • Diesel hit $6.00 here today at the truck stop.   Payed $2.79 for E85 today too.
    • Thanks for posting, I'm sure it will help someone
    • New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?
    • So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
