04' GMC Sierra (lemon?)....

I need some suggestions here....

I have an 04' GMC Sierra Stepside w/5.3 and 3.42 gear.

When my wife and I purchased this truck in Oct. 04', we really liked this truck and pulled my boat well.

It has the 4 wheel disc BTW.

Let me start at the beginning at try not to make it too long.

At apprx. 10K miles one of the A Arm bolts had broke and fell onto the garage floor! That's right...an A Arm bolt!

I looked at the bolt and it didn't break at the threads...it broke at the head and had been that way for awhile because where it had broken off...half of bolt was rusted indicating that it was probably broken at the factory by over tightening or just defective. They acted like it was no problem and fixed but, I'm thinking WTF!

The 4 wheel disc brakes IMHO are the absolute PITS! I noticed early on that this system was in no way better than a disc drum but, was told the brakes were "normal". I continue on and notice a few months later when the 05's come out that GM went BACK to the disc/drum set-up due to failures and problems with the discs. Great

It has developed the dreaded "steering clunk" BAD, the Dexcool is gelling, windows creak and moan especially when wet, the drivers seat "pops" when you set back in it, the Genaral JUNK tires cannot be rotated because the rear ones are out so bad that I cannot put them on the front, both door hinges were replaced at 10K, both headlights have been replaced, gas and brake pedal components under the dash have been rusting since day one (that's right...rusting)!

This has by far been the worst GM vehicle that I have ver owned!

Here's the kicker!

I originally bought an 03" Sonoma w/4.3 SLE and the brakes had to be replaced at 19K and it developed an engine oil leak and I said that was it for that ride and traded it for an ever bigger more expensive POS.

Any suggestions?

Thanx,

TEE

Those all sound like annoying issues, but none of it sounds like something a little tlc won't fix. I would expect similar problems from any other truck from any other manufacturer, no one can build a perfect vehicle and the things you list are either routine maintenance or common problems that won't cause damage, or non detrimental items.

Of all you list the A-arm bolt I would be concerned about, and replace the radiator fluid.

I wish I could find a similar situation near me cause this is were somebody will get a great truck for a heck of a price.
