04 sierra 4x4 int. hard steering

Hi, I have a 04 sierra 1500 4x4 and i have been noticing that when making tight parking mauvours or anything that requires a lot of steering action, it feels as if the power steering goes out. If you wait a few sec. then it seems to "catch up" and goes back to normal. Any GM techs delt with this before?

 

I had taken my truck for warranty work to the dealer and I had noticed that my fog lights centers turned gold. The dealer called me up and said I put too high of a wattage bulb that caused it to turn colors but I never changed the bulbs! I looked up for what GM called for the fog light bulbs and it matched what was in the truck and they wont do anything to fix it! any sugestions?

 

The last thing, I have a squeak that is coming from the leaf spring bushings and anytime you bounce on the back of the truck or do anything to get the suspension to move it starts sqeaking. The dealer keeps on spraying penetrating lube on them and calling it "fixed" now i gotta carry around a can of spray lube so my $37k truck doesnt sound like it falling apart. I know this is a lot but any insight would be awesome and greatly appreciated!!

the issue with your steering is a normal condition with hydaboost powed brakes

and steering during parking lot driving.you might want to check with your dealer

he may be able to make it less of a problem.it cannot be eliminated totally.

the 1500's dont have hydro boost.

My truck is having a similar issue with regard to steering. Did you ever find a fix for this? It'll cut out for about a half second and then kick right back on.

I had the exact same problem with my 04 Sierra 1500 Z71. Turning the wheel quickly to the right would make it feel like PS was out. I could let tension off of wheel a little and sterring would return. It felt like valves were sticking closed. Anyway, I had to demonstrate to the dealer, who immediately said my steering box was bad. They replaced the box and it's been fine ever since. Sorry for the late response. Haven't benn on for a while.

When my friend had some warranty issue with his Jeep dealer, because when he brought his car for a faulty wiring causing his Jeep fog light to turn gold in color the dealer refuses to fix it under warranty even if it is mentioned on the warranty papers... So, he went to the regional office of the Jeep dealer to report what he experienced and after a week... His dealer called him on the phone and offered him all the maintenance and repair he needs for no cost at all... About the squek noise coming from the leaf spring bushings, try to check the wheel bearings... Goodluck!!!
