Harvest picture

Since jp is posting pics of harvest I thought Id post one for ya here. If I could fine the rest of the roll id scan some more. This is a pic of what it look like to run the green machine dont want you guys thinking that there isnt another brand of farm equipment then case . I went on wheat harvest in 97 & 98 this pic is when we pulled into a 40 acre field with 7 combines and 2 grain carts. The pic isnt that great of quality the 3 combine are in the background two facing to the right and one behind the other 4. Five of the combines, one tractor and grain cart, and 3 trailer trucks were part of our crew the rest were part of another crew.

I've always wanted to go on a harvest run, just haven't been able to yet and don't know if I will be able to go, our home operation more than keeps me busy. I am on the database of the USCHI database as a possible worker though. These large custom harvester operations really interest me. I love big iron, I think 7 combines, 2 grain carts, and lots of trucks qualifies as big iron!

By the way, 7 combines in a 40 acre field? Looks like they are all 9600s running 30ft straight heads. What did that take you, half an hour or so? Looks like they are Kinze carts from what I can tell, the best made, someday we'll get one of our own.

Actually Im partial to the silver combines and orange tractors. Harvest was a great time got up a 6 and fueled and greased the machines, got going about 9 or 10 and finished at about 11 in the evening.

Jp, they are both kinzes the larger one was ours and it was about a 1000 bushels, with a 9400 tractor pulling if I remember right. Thats was one wide butt rig. Each of the tires on the tractor were at least 2 feet wide and the back had duels on. I pulled the grain cart through western Nebraska up to North Dakota with a 98 dodge ram xcab, talk about a load. Yes those are 9600 along with a couple of 9610 in there also.

EDIT: Oh and for your information it took to swaths and about 15 min. to do that field.

The city suck Im living in the city right now. But I did grow up on the farm. Paco you need to stay on the farm for a month Its so peaceful and no crime at all. Unless there are some high schoolers that like to make trouble.

it depends on the city and who you are. i know people here and i dont wanna leave it. i can't stand it when i have to drive way out into the country..too many rednecks

I'm with Tom here, I'm never going to live in a city. This college town I'm in is way to big for me, although most Chicago kids call this a small town. 100K people isn't small by my book, especially when my hometown is 60! I also like to look outside my house and have a view like this rather than looking at 12 neighbors houses, as well as lawns that are the size of a postage stamp, if there are any lawns.

well i get along with my neighbors and enjoy it here. i think it's just they way we have been raised, jp grew up on a farm, i grew up in the city.

I would love to live in an area where any window I look out, I either see woods, or my driveway. Not that I don't like neighbors, I just like my space.
