k i went to the local speed shop up here in maryland and talked to the dude there about doing something to my truck ( 04 ecsb 4x4 ) he told me about the magna charger wich looked great on the tahoe they had there but when i went for a ride didnt impress me much, mind you that this thing had 22's and probley has a curb weight of about 6000lbs...lol anyway the owner has a lightning with a zex kit, i went for a ride in it and holy crap i got to get nitrous..... :ughdance: i know its a lightning with a blower and everything but push button power thats great.

so im thinking a 75 shot wet feed kit not bad cost me about 900 . but dont want to blow my truck up what do you guys know about nitrous and is this a good idea for just a everyday ride that i plan to surprise some pple with

I like the power gains that can be had with nitrous, but I wonder about the safety of it. I am more interested in supercharging, it seems a little more engine friendly. Plus nitrous is a little more complicated to use (activation switch, WOT switch, bottle openers...) and you will always have to pay to refill the bottle.

Supercharging is a one time expense, all you do is press the accelerator.

although i havent had nitrous on my 5.3, nor have i priced nitrous for my 5.3, i did have nitrous on my 5.7 camaro lt1. i ran 175 shot for almost 2 years before i sold the car. i had absolutely no problems with the engine. i dont know how the 5.3 holds up compared to the 5.7. i literally used the nitrous everyday whether i was playing or racing. i beat the hell out of that motor and it held up like a champ. nitrous is the most inexpensive big power upgrade you will ever do. you use it only when you want, which makes nitrous a perfect application for a daily driver. i love nitrous (if you couldnt tell) and wouldnt hesitate to put it on my truck if speed was the goal i was looking for. you can hide it pretty easy as well, so no one will even know you have it unless you tell them. if done correctly, nitrous will be the most awesome investment you could make to the power increasers for your ride. i used a nitrousworks wet kit. it was adjustable from 75-175 horsepower. it had every component needed to install the system. i paid only 400 for it new. shop around for some diffrent name brand kits. they all do the same, and they all do it the same way. just be sure there is a local shop to fill your bottle for you when you run out. that will cost roughly 40 per fill and takes an hour or so to do.
