Put on New Rear Brakes

Recommended Posts

I just put new brake pads on the rear of my 04 Silverado 1500. It was seriously one of the easiest brake jobs I have done in my life. I can't speak highly enough of the ACDelco OEM brake pad kit. NOT THE DURASTOP LINE!, the real ones that you get from the dealer or an ACDelco shop. The kit included every last piece of hardware (all spring clips, etc.), even new caliper slide bolts! If you want to do a complete brake job and you don't want any noise, just spend the extra buciks. It set me back 135 at the dealer (for a full set of rear pads), when I checked the local ACDelco jobber the price was 114. So, they're expensive, but I think they're worth it for the noise free performance and perfect 100 percent fit and parts replacement. Thats my 2 cents.

Caliper bracket is separate. However, I was still impressed with the new caliper bolts. Every part that the Service Manual said should be replaced was included.

Yeah if it replaces pretty much all the parts, that's a pretty good deal. Does it replace the caliper bracket too, or is that separate?

Hmmm I'll have to investigate that the next time my finacee`'s Jimmy needs new pads...As it was we had to replace just about everything in the back except the e-brake shoes, but that's probably just because she never uses those. Although those rotors came off like a biatch (2 hours of hammering and prying before they broke loose).

Thanks, that's good information.
