cant get into gear when hot

i just bought a 94 gmc sierra 1500 with a manual trans. When the tans get hot it really doesn't want to go into any gear, when its cold it shifts great. i replaced the slave cylinder and bleed it completly. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

Could be a bad master or air in the system.

 

I don't recall... does that have the external slave where you can see the rod that pushes the fork? If so, you need to measure the travel when someone pushes the clutch pedal to the floor. I *think* 11 mm is the amount it's supposed to travel. That ain't much, so any air in the system will not fully disengage the clutch making shifting difficult or impossible.

yes it is external, i will try to bleed it again altho the slave is plastic and i am afraid to strip it. i thought air would give me trouble even when cold, it only gets hard to shift when hot. is it possible for pressure plate springs to go bad?

It's possible it's the pressure plate, but first see if you're getting the required amount of travel on the slave. That's easy to check and it doesn't take much in reduction of travel to not complete disengage the clutch.
