I have a 2005 GMC Sierra ext. cab. 5.3 2wheel drive. The tires are wareing in the outside edge. The drivers side wheel can be moved slightly fron side to side. The tie rod has a slight amount of play. The truck is under waranty.

Is this something that happens often? Will the dealer give me the run around?

Thanks and have a great day,

Most likely, you have a toe setting problem. We see this A LOT! Could have a tie rod end problem, though we don't see this at low mileage. Since you didn't say what your mileage is, I can't tell you if this is a possibility.

Whether or not your dealer will give you the run around is an unknown that no one can tell you. We wouldn't but you might not like the answer when we tell you that you have to pay for an alignment if you're over 7500 miles.

Its only got 14,900 miles. I took it to a local alignment shop and they said to take it to the dealer. The play isn't much and it makes a metalic noise at the end of the movement. Just wondering how common this is.

Not common at that mileage, but it happens.
