Rotting muffler

I had a magnaflow aluminized muffler installed about 6 months ago and i looked under my truck today and the leading edge of it looks like it is rotting out or rusting from the inside out, what could cause this??? is it a moisture buildup or what. and how long is the magnaflow warranty???

Those aluminized exhausts aren't worth a d**n, that's your problem. Stainless is the only thing worth buying, and they use low grade stainless at that.

well i stand (sit) corrected, it isn't rotting it was a gob of black road tar that looked like rot, but i will be replacing it anyway becasue it has a good amount of surface rust

Yeah, aluminized exhausts are just a cheap 'get it fixed now' thing. They typically rust from the inside out, and thus stay looking okay until one day there's a big hole in your exhaust (unless, like my old Omni, the muffler just falls off while you're driving down the road...sounded like a damned race car but wouldn't move for s**t).
