No Power on Start up

I have a 2000 Silverado. I have no power when I first drive in the morning, or some times even after a lond red traffic light.

First I got code P0336 - replaced Crank Position Sensor..... It seemend to have solved the problem.... but only for about 60 miles

Then I got code P0420 - Replaced Cat converter.... worked for a whole day, about 300 miles.

Any ideas?

Does it sputter, hesitate, and occasionaly backfire first thin in the morning?

I have a '99 that is doing this. It is in the shop now for this problem.

Are you using an aftermarket Air Filter? Just talked to service department and they said my KN air filter might of caused this problem. Apparently excessive oil from the filter can collect on the Mass Air Flow meter and cause it to malfunction.

My truck is also shifting funny (Trans slips on 2-3 shift) this can be caused by a faulty MAF meter. I have to find something on this website that says how to clean the MAF meter.

Hi...

Your answer is probably a good one in most cases, but I have already checked the AFM meter, and it's OK. This problem seems to be very common, but as I understand it causes rough idle most of the time, and even might die out occassionaly.

 

Right now we are checking the Electronic Vacumm Pump... will let you know if this solves the problem...

Picked up my truck from dealer and it did the exact same thing. Started it up and started driving away and it started hesitating and sputerring again. Went a block or so and it went away. This is the same as before. They cleaned the MAF put in a regular air filter, did a bunch or reprogramming, did a fuel pressure check. It does seem to run and shift a little better, except on initial startup.

 

What is the Electronic Vacumm Pump you mentioned??
