XM add on

i currently dont have xm in my truck, i'm pondering swaping the radio for a 6 disc XM head unit and was wondering that if i put that "attractive" antenna on my roof, does it just plug into the back of the unit and im ready to sign up, or is there a seperate "XM" unit somewhere in the dash that i would have to obtain??

there is a seperate xm unit that hooks up to the radio & the antenna. you can go with an xm direct that comes with the smaller antenna and is a lot cheaper than the gm stuff. do a search. theres tons of stuff on this site. you could also add the siruis to it. i currently have xm from the factory but circuit city has the sirius kit for $79 that plugs right in if you have the right radio. i bought the kit so i can install it down the road...

Go with Sirius... it's better, I understand people having XM because it comes with the new vehicals, but I just like the programming better on Sirius.
