Gas Gauge - 2007 Silverado Classic

The gas gauge on the 2007 Silverado Classic is strange.

 

I was at the line above E (1/16th mark) and went to fill up. The pump stopped at 20 gallons. This truck has a 26 gallon tank. GM must be really conservative about the gas tank.

 

I guess I'm not used to it since the vehicle I had prior to this, a Chevy Tracker, would only have 1 gallon left if I was near E.

When the low fuel light went on you should have at least 4 gallons left for about 72 miles of conservative driving. Remember the guage is just an indicator and your best bet is not to go below 1/4 tank.
