2000 ECSB 5.3 plugs-platinums to iridium

I changed the plugs in my 2000 ECSB 4x4 w/ 5.3 from the platinums to the iridiums when I bought the truck. I think I noticed a lack of power but wasn't too sure because the truck still has lots of power compared to my old truck and thought I was "getting used to it". After doing some research, I think my PCM needs to be updated to accept the new plugs (gap changed from .060 to .040). The GM TSB that allows the new iridiums doesn't mention it.

My question is, does my PCM need to be "reprogrammed" "flashed" or "updated" or they all the same thing? I am under the impression the reprogram is much more involved than the other 2. I have to get it updated anyway to accept my new 265 tires I put on compared to the old 245's, and figure I'd have the dealer kncok it out in one whack.

Any thoughts?

No,As far as I know it dosen't have to be reprogrammed,I've never heard any of the guys at the dealership mention anything about them having to reprogram for the change.

I understand what your saying.

If your going to your dealer to have it reprogrammed for the 265 tires have them check to see if your truck has the latest programming in it,Just mention to the service writer,or better yet the tech. thats doing the reprogramming,to check for the latest updates for your truck, they should know what your talking about.

(If they don't know what your talking about find another dealer!)

There is no specific programing for the iridium spark plugs. Nor for any other type of spark plug.

I put the iridium plugs in my 1999 z-71 with the 5.3 and it runs perfect.
