OEM Fog Light Kit

Hey,

I bought an OEM fog light kit a while back for my 2002 2500HD. I installed them following the instructions, but when I got to the area where I was supposed to plug in the purple power wire to the fog lights, the A3 slot was taken. According to the instructions, the center harness connector on the back of my fuse panel was the main light harness. Looking really close I could see the a-f and 1-? printed on the connector. At the A3 position, there was a green wire. Someone helping me checked continuity between A4 and a terminal where the relay sits (pin 85 I believe) and said it would be good there. Now, with purple power wire in the A4 slot, the fog lights are always on; switch doesn't turn em off, even pulling the relay doesn't do anything. I've been driving with the fuse out for months trying to find time and a way to fix them.

Can anyone help?

According to our service information, fog lamp relay control is pin A7 in connector 2 (a 24 pin, light blue connector).

The BCM turns on a specific pin to activate the fog lights. You can't stick the wire in just any ol' location, like A4 (close don't count!), and expect it to work correctly.

If pulling the relay doesn't turn the fog lights off, then the purple wire is not the relay control wire. Are you sure you followed the intructions correctly? Or, maybe the wrong kit?

I tried again today. I looked up a schematic in AllData and it said the purple wire goes to B4 underneath a dark green wire in B3. Well, I found B3 and theres a green wire with a white tracer like AllData said, but it's light green. Anyway, I tried putting the purple wire into the B4 location. I couldn't find any other listing in the schematic for fog lights other than the green/white wire in B3 which is control or relay, can't remember.

The fog lights now don't come on constant, but they don't turn on at all. I guess I'll have to take it in for programming, darn.
