front end rattle on 06 2wd silverado

truck is 2wd reg cab std bed with 4.8 v8. Truck is not even 6 months old but has 21k miles (yes I drive alot). Since about 10k miles there has been a rattle/vibration felt in the steering wheel when turning to the left.....now at 20k miles I feel the vibration turning either left or right when hitting bumps in the road....ironically if I am driving straight there are no vibrations and if I am on smooth pavement there is no vibration at all even when turning.....but any degree turn either way and I feel the vibration if I hit even the smallest road irregularity. The vibration makes an audible 'clicking' noise which can be heard in the cab by the passenger and felt through the steering wheel. The noise/feel is similar to the feeling of shot CV joints on a front wheel drive car. The steering is not sloppy nor do you feel out of control when this occurs....it is just d**n annoying on a brand new truck.

Anyone have any idea as to what the source of this could be?
