Rear end locking up

My sons 94' K1500 rear end is locking up on him again i wrote once before in the 1500 colume and had gotton some help with this, once before about a year ago he went to back up and it locked up the left rear wheel we took all the brakes apart along with the rear end everything looked good and once we got it together again it was fine , now about 3 weeks ago he had gone off-roading with it and got it stuck when we got home the rear brake locked up just like before but this time it was on the right rear he found that the wheel cyl. was no good and replaced it went for a test drive and everything was good two days later he had to move it to get his muffler put on well it was locked up again , now this time i'm not sure which side is locked as he was telling me when he was going to bed lastnight . Do you have anyidear as to what is going on ? any help would be great , Thank you

Find out which side it is first. Then, crack the bleeder screw on that side to see if relieving pressure releases the brake/wheel.

Just talked with him and he said it was the same side he put the wheel cyl. in(right rear) guess he said it still had air in the line so he went back a bled the line again and thought he had it all out anyhow he went to move it and it was locked up , could there still be air in it ? Thanks again !

Air in the system is not going to lock up the brake. No way, no how. Sounds like there must be something mechanically going on with the brake shoes/hardware.

If the brake shoes got brake fluid from a leaking cylinder or gear oil from a leaking axle seal on them, it will do just what you describe. Did he replace the brake shoes while he had it all apart or no? That'd be my next step. Clean everything off and start fresh. Shoes are CHEAP.

My Mother In laws Tahoe had a similar problem just driving down the road one day the driverside wheel locked up. she was pulling into his neighborhood so he drug it home. We took the diff. cover off to find that the spider gears were eatin' up. Ended up replacing all the gears inside the diff. with new and haven't had the same problem since. Hers is a 2001 or 2002 2wd.
