sierra 4.3 to 5.3 swap

i have a 2000 gmc sierra 2wd short bed 4.3 V6. i was wondering if anyone has ever done a 5.3 swap in a truck like this and how hard is it. also does the tranny from the 4.3 hook right up to the 5.3 or no. anything will help. thanks.

hey i did a 4.3 to a 5.7 change and the only thing i couldn't use was the computer chip from the 4.3 and the mounts on the frame, it wasn't hard after you get the mounts off. i had to take a bolt out of the a- arm and pull it down alittle to get to the back of the mounts.

A 4.3 to 5.7 swap is completely different from a 4.3 to 5.3 swap. I'm pretty sure with the 5.3 being a Gen IV engine, it uses different mounts, tranny bellhousing, accessory brackets, etc. etc. than the 4.3 and 5.7. However, I'm sure it can be done with a new computer, accessory brackets, trans, mounts, etc. etc.

It is nice to hear that at least 4.3 to 5.7 is possible.

 

I'm just curious ohcrzyguy, does that mean you were able to use all the sensors and wiring too.
