When I do the first oil change will it be OK to switch to Synthetic oil? Any particular oil to get that is best.. I run Amsoil in my bike and love it but have not used it in any cars yet...

EDIT:

The Truck is a 07 SIlverado Classic with a 5.3L

Well have you ever been told you get what you pay for???

They have cardboard end-caps for the filter element , cheap plastic by-pass valve and the flimsy anti-drainback valve.

for maximum filtering surface area look at the Purolator PremiumPlus or a K&N.

I also run a Amsoil filter on my bike but have not used one on the car. (yet)

I am new here but a regular on a Pontiac board. Over there they say that Wix and Napa Gold filters are some of the best.

I don't want to start any brand loyalty wars between car makes so please don't take it that way.

After all we are about what's best for our vehicles. I use the Napa Gold in my 65 GTnO.

Here's what I do

Napa Gold Filter

Amsoil 5W-30 (winter)

Amsoil 15W-40 (summer)

change the filter every 3000 - 5000 miles

change the oil every 10,000 (7,500 if your truck has over 100,000 miles on the motor) or 6 months
