USB flash drive ? for music

I recently purchased a Kenwood KDC-X590 HU for my '06 GMC Sierra. It allows for a USB connection. Do I need a special flash drive for music, or will they all work?? Thanks.

Depends (as I have recently found out), the Kenwood units may or may not play from direct plug in. If they do then great, if not then you have to use a program that come with it called "phat noise" which adds voice commands to your music so that the head unit can communicate with it.

 

I almost bought a Kenwood unit until I read that the display looks like an 80's VCR display (and it does). I ended up buying the JVC KDG820 that does up to 4gig of flash drive.

 

However I'm just really interested in finding a head unit that will take an external hard drive.

 

The other thing you could do is get an MP3 player and go through an aux input or do the iPod thing if your into that.

The JUMP DRIVE USB Flash Drive will definitely work (but like Rosedog said, ya might need a driver installed)

It's also a regular MP3 player (128MB).
