Sirius compatability

I have an 01 Tahoe LT and was thinking about adding Sirius. Will this plug right in through an auxilliary outlet on the back of the radio, or something, similar to an aftermarket head unit? Is there a way I can tell if it'll work without having to rip the dash out?

I just ordered a Sirius Starmate 4 that will be gong into my 99 Silverado and am curious about installs too.

I would like to know if there is an Aux In connection on the back of the radio before I go pulling it out.

I have the CD player in the console and the head unit has a cassette so I may try the cassette adaptor route. My 87 Corvette has a cassette in the radio so it would be easy to move it between vehicles. You can get also get the FM antenna connector but that still requires you to tune to an unused FM station.

I have also thought about going with an aftermarket system and better speakers. That way you could get a head unit with an Aux In connection and use it for the Sirius unit.

I will most likely be adding an aftermarket head unit here pretty soon but I wondered if I could use the Sirius with the stock unit until then.

Also, with an aftermarket head unit, will everything work with my On-Star system or would I have more concerns there?

The SIR-GM1 is a Sirius kit that plugs directly into the back of GM radios, But it only fits 03 to 06 model years. I haven't seen anything for years before 03....
