diesel or gas for a supertruck

Well I'm about to start building my truck but am not sure what motor yet. I've been dead set on my genIII iron smallblock buildup but have always toyed with the idea of a Dmax. It's going in a single cab short bed 99 silverado. The smallblock would end up putting out around 700-800 horse with roughly the same torque. BUT the Dmax is already there with just a very small shot of the funny stuff, but with so much more torque. If I built the Dmax I'd probably be looking at around 800-1000 horse with around 1500 torque. The build would cost just slightly more on the dmax. Just want to get some opinions here before I start. Dmax and allison is so much more weight but lasts so much longer. diesel is so much cheaper than 93 I think, it's been a while since I looked at diesel prices. I just can't make up my mind. also what does the Dmax redline at. so far the only downfall I see of the Dmax is weight for the corners which will be a big issue to overcome.

Yeah, but having 5 or 6 forward gears helps a lot there. I know of several people who have 12 second (or better) DMax trucks:

On edit: I re-read your first post and it looks like you will be doing the left-turn dance instead of straight line. I can't be much help there.
