RoGuE Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 When I changed my oil I forgot to put the oil cap back on in the engine bay and I had the truck running for about 6 minutes or so. To make a long story short there was black water pouring out of the muffler from a welded seam in it. As soon as I noticed the cap was off and put it back on it stopped. Did I ruin anything or is it all fixed now?
Wingnut Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 You didn't mess anything up with the oil (I've driven around without a cap before), but I'd definately check out the weeping muffler. Your bearings might be bad.
Guest chevydeerhunter Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Do you buy muffler bearings at the same place you buy headlight fluid?
svensk Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 Do you buy muffler bearings at the same place you buy headlight fluid? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, the same place you buy PCM lube.
Giant Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I did my muffler bearings and flushed my blinker fluid at the same time.
Loomis462 Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 black water coming from your muffler is normal. There is a drain on it to prevent rusting. Water is a by-product of combustion
