2.8 to 350 swap, ????

ok, the 350 bug bit me. i want something with more power, and i plan on taking some out of state trips, and the old 2.8L just isn't reliable anymore.

SOOO.

here is is, and heres my questions.

its an 82' s10 w/carb 2.8, 4 sp. manual 2wd

what all do i need to run the 350?

someone just told me i need the engine, tranny, and the mounts, obviously. here are all my questions so far:

would it be easiest to keep a carbed motor? - which motor out of which car/truck would be best?

will the computer need changed? if so which computer?

will the drive shaft from the s10 fit the tranny?

what accessory parts, if any, will fit on the 350 from the 2.8?

what do i do with the cooling system? (such as radiator)

what is the best tranny to use? (keeping manual probably) - can i use a newer tranny w/ a 5sp. or do i need to keep it to the earlier 4 sp. trannys?

will all the tranny accessories off the 2.8 (such as clutch cables, etc...) fit with the v8 tranny?

do i need to change the rear end?

and do i need to change suspension?

this is not a drag truck, street/travel/hunting truck.

i'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. i dont need a super fast truck, just would like alot more power than the 2.8 could ever offer, thank you in advance for all the help!

p.s. i tried a different forum, and all i got was a bunch of immature pricks that told me to search and just criticized me, i do NOT have alot of time on a computer or i would search more, all help is appreciated, thanks!

350's can't be all that hard to drop in to things since pretty much everything has had someone put a 350 into it, friends dad is planning on dropping a 350 into her mustang. Not like they are hard to wire up either lol.

Pretty much any 350 will do since your not using it for anything spectacular. I have a feeling a longer motor and tranny will cause you to have to get a new drive shaft.

I would just get a beat up truck with a decent motor and use all the accesories and such off of the motor that you take out of it. Along with the rad.

You sure it doesn't have a hydrolic clutch? I know alot of the older 1/2 tons did. In that case you could probably still use the master ont he firewall but use the slave from the larger tranny.

I would change the rear end personally.
