Remote starter

Well my girl friend just let me open one of the gifts tonight from her and its what ive needed for a while ...a Pro start CT-3200 SHWEET No more cold canadian mornings gettin in the truck!!! .

Well anyway should i have this installed where she bought it from (canadian tire) or is this something easy that i could do in an hour or so ...instructions make it look difficult.

Around how much would i be charged to have this installed some where

Have that puppy installed at the dealer where she got it!!! I've heard horror stories of vehicles throwing codes that were no doubt due to improperly installed remote starter units.

I sorta agree with the post below ...have Canadian Tire put it in, but they will need a module to interface with the GM security system.....it will probably be over their head. Do you have a quality stereo/alarm shop where you live (I'm in Kelowna...where are you?) I am using an Astrostart system which works flawlessly and will reach thousands of feet with a clear shot and at least a thousand feet from inside buildings. My installer advertises as being "the 12 volt specialists" and they are ! Insist that they solder all connections and you will be miles ahead.

Anyway DAVEGEE im just down the way in Revelstoke...we come to K-Town or Vernon about 1-2 weekends a month...more in the summer to ride our banshees. Anyways... what is this guys shop you talk of, because if he does good work ill be in on that...do ya got a name/number for his shop.

If im going to have this installed by someone, i might as well get it done "right" cause i hate people that think they know how to install crap but do a slack job.

Please let me know if you have a link or something to that guy you know, if its a shop...

Oh man its cold here right now brrrrrrr!

It's not that hard and I have done thousands of remote starts over my life. Yours requires a kit to bypass the factory starter kill. Take your time and do it in a heated garage and you'll be fine. See the below, I hope it helps:

Notes:

NOTE: This vehicle has the passlock II immobilizer system that, when adding a remote start, must be interfaced with. Use DEI part 555t or 555L. *1 The BCM is located behind the drivers side of the dash. The plugs on the BCM face towards the rear of the vehicle. The parking lights are in pin A5 and the headlights are in pin A11. *2 Use tan for the drivers door located in pin B4 of the purple plug, and for the passenger door it will be a orange in pin B2 in the purple plug or dk.blue/white in pin B11 of the lt.blue plug, must diode isolate these wires. *3 ECM is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the tach wire is at pin 20 in the connector labeled red, and VSS wire is at pin 3 in the connector labeled black. On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the tach wire is located at pin 10 in the red connector, and VSS wire is located in pin 50 of the red connector. *4 Also found in the purple plug of the BCM. *5 Diesel tach wire is white at the cluster. Diesel wait to start wire is dk. blue (-) located at the instrument cluster.
