My HD is back home

I picked my truck up this afternoon about closing time.  They installed a brand new Transfer case in it.  It is better but it still is "harsh" when I shift to 4x4 HI on the fly.  It sends a jolt through the entire chassis (enough to bob your head forward a little bit).  Granted it is better than it was, but I don't think it is quite right yet.  Does anyone else have an HD with electronic 4x4 that can confirm a relatively smooth engagement of 4HI on the fly?  They claim that there was an incorrectly machined synchronizer gear in my T-case...

All the other minor things were corrected perfectly and it is nice to have my truck back!!!

Better yet it is GREAT to give the keys back for the "rental" F150 that GM paid for!!!

Congrats on getting your truck back Shaners.  How long were you without it, 10 days?

Joe

Joe,  My HD was in the shop for 14 days...

I think they were as glad to get that big thing out of there as I was to get it back!!!   LOL

Cool!  Good deal!!!  I'll let you know later today what I find out about mine shifting on the fly.

BTW - Is it just me, or does the thumbs emoticon look like it's actually giving two birds and not thumbs up? LOL

Dang, 14 days driving a F*rd, how did you do it?

It wasn't easy driving that truck.  If I can get some conformation that other HD's are shifting easily and smoothly into 4wd, then I will take my truck back to the dealer and have the service mgr go for a ride with me in a new 2002 HD.  I will then hand him my keys and tell him to call me when my truck shifts like that, and I'll ask for an "F-body" Camaro or T/A to drive...  I think that  it would be fair to ask for that vehicle since my HD easily stickered for $5-7K more than the car....

Mine engages smoothly.  Try giving it some time to break in and loosed up a little.  :D

I think the problem isn't in the case itself.  Maybe it's the encoder motor like Larry suggested or perhaps the front differential.

I'll put some more miles on it before I go and talk to them.  However, this truck is 1/2 way to the required 30 days in the shop within the first year...

Shane,

I forgot to tell you, mine shifts fine.  Nothing out of the normal.  I would go back and take the SM for a ride in yours, then in an 02.  And don't let him BS you about them changing something to improve the harshness between the 2 years.

my front diff should be here soon, if it cures my problem I will let you know.

Thanks... I'm curious to see if that works for you.
