We live in California and rust is not part of the dictionary.

But I'm wondering how do Chevy Trucks hold in cold weather country with all the road salt?

How many years until rust shows around the wheel well or the bottom of the doors?

What are other critical areas?

For my 2002, slight rust on the edges of the front bumper, coming from under the plastic trim. Apparently, this is really common and is the screws that hold the trim and not actually the bumber itself.

I've also had rust on both the driver and passenger door pillars, most likely caused by rock chips.

And the one that makes me shake my head the most...on the back hatch around the base of the wiper blade.

I live in Ontario, where road salt is gaurenteed!

it REALLY depends on how you take care of it too. There are some things that are unavoidable, but routine washing/waxing can go a long way

My '92 Blazer spent a few years with me in Colorado before coming back home here...And at 14 years old, didn't have a spot of rust on it the day I got rid of it.

I washed that truck all the time too.

My '95 has only a few rust spots from where it's been bumped a few times, and the box is rusting inside from heavy use. Otherwise it's just your usual frame rust that I've always associated as normal on any vehicle.

Regular washing really helps a lot in avoiding rust to your car parts. If your GM bumper has some rusts, try to rub the bumper with crumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola. Dip the aluminum in any liquid, or again, in baking soda charged water. that might help remove rusts.
