I have the mirrors that auto darken.. My question is should both the side mirrors darken or just the driver side?

The passenger side does not darken at all.. Kind of sucks when your in the fast lane and the person in the right lane has there lights out of adjustment..

No,Just the drivers side dims, the passenger side does not dim.

Not to hijack this thread, but since we're on the topic of the 'self diming' mirrors.....is there a mod that can be done to manually control the dimming ?

Sometimes I find that I want the mirrors dimmed as the sensor hasn't determined that I need it yet. It would be nice to have an override to turn it on/off.

No,You can turn the dimming off & on but thats it,Theres no adjustment to the level of dimming.

I agree. It doesn't always dim when I want it to. An override would be nice. My 2000 Impala has tint on the windows. It's not much but must be enough to mess with the auto dim because it won't dim unless someone is right behind be with their brights on. The tint on the rear window isn't enough to filter out headlights either. Can be annoying at times.

If you have problems turning it off you can always cover the sensor. I'm not sure where it sits on your truck, but most american cars have the sensor along the bottom line of the rear view mirror facing towards the back of the vehicle. But I guess this way would hardly be the finest way to turn it off.

If you have a 99 with comfort and premium package both outside mirrors are selfdimming. They discontiniued the passanger side dimming function on the next 2000+ body.

Ahhh, another case of de-evolving technology. Come out with a great feature......and then get rid of it. :smash:
