01 Denali CD Changer Issues

I have a BOSE AM/FM Casette player in the Denali (model #16245605) and CD changer (model #15064147).

 

When i turn on the truck and press the CD TAPE button it does not switch over to the cd. I do not see any lights for the CDX being on either. I put it into a friends denali and it works (it's an 02 Denali).

 

Does the BCM control the CDX or tell the TAPE deck whether a CDX is present or not ? do i need the bcm reconfigured or should i buy a new tape deck?
