noob questions

well im looking at a gmc 1500HD. I like the truck but hate how low it is to the ground. I am also looking at ram 1500's and from what I have read you can just crank the t-bars and run 35"s with out a problem. I was wondering what the biggest tire size I can fit on a 1500HD with just a leveling kit or ford keys which I have read about on here. Even 33-34"s would be better then nothing. This doesnt get wheeled just will be used for DD and towing my wheeler (Built TJ on 37"s) five time a year or so. If you could post a picture or two of what I can fit on biggest leveled itd be apperciated. I tried searching but couldnt find anything but ill keep up with the seraching to hopefully find something.

Here is a pic (in my sig) of my Sierra with Ford T-bar keys. I have 285/75/16 ProComp X-Terrains (which are basically 33" tires) on a 16X8 wheel. The Ford T-bar keys gave me a little over 2 1/2" of lift in the front and I will be ordering an Add-A-Leaf kit for the back next week. The 285s fit with no prob at all, even when wheeling they don't rub during off camber stuff. I would go with the 1500 and leave the RAM in the pasture

possibly, really like rams though. if I got a GM i would look confused, have a 70 mustag, a TJ, and a GM then

So the reason 35"s probably wouldn't fix is because of the wheel well opening being that low? does bfg make a tire thats a 34"x12.50r16?

hows the 6.0 for reliability compared to the classic 350 or the 5.3?

anyone make front hitches for the GM 1500hd? need one for pushing in my boat since my driveway/garage situation is really messed up at my cottage.

Um...BFG does not make a 34". I looked for a 315/70/R16 and its a 35" tire. If you want a 34x12.50 get Nitto Terra-Grappler 315/70/R16, install Ford torsion keys, and rancho long tube shocks. And everything should sit perfectly. My good friend did this to his 2004 Silverado and it looks beautiful. Scrubs just a tiny bit though, although he is running a 18x10 Centerline wheel on those tires.

About the Ram fitting 35"s, that is only possible on the stock rim and a narrow tire. My brother a 2003 Ram and torsion keys tightened to the max and a regular 35" tire will not fit.

35x12.50x17 (the metric equivlent) will fit on the stock rim and work out on rams.

My problem is 34" is only available in mud tires and do not really want the faster tread wear with them. If i went a 34" itd be trxus quietest m/t tire ever quieter then bfg a/t's. Rather have an AT because you can get 40K+ out of a set.

If I had read this when you posted it, I would have gotten pictures by now. I passed his house today, but I didn't have my camera.

Like I said if you want All-terrains in a 34" go with Nitto terra-Grappler.

or buy a F-150 and put a 2.5" leveling kit and fit 35s no problem. I'd be willing to say that you might scrape by with 35s on H2 rims. There are a few guys over on the Duramax forum that are doing it. They have their bars all the way up though.
