I don't understand how to use a clay brick

I know it works, but how? You just 'scratch' the clay brick over the paint surface? then what? wash? I'm sorry to be so ignorant, but it sounds so radical to me. Help an old guy out. I wanna shine, too. (Well, top of my head does!)

i did this almost every weekend when I had my mustang...

1. Wash car thoroughly.

2. Dry thoroughly (use leaf blower if needed).

3. knead the claybar until it's workable.

4. Use lubricant (comes with kit or quick wax) to spray a small area at a time.

5. wipe area with clay bar (look at claybar - it will be dirty even though you just washed your car).

6. every so often knead the claybar again.

7. use sealant or polish ASAP after claybar b/c your paint is as exposed as it gets.

8. wax

MAKE SURE YOU DO STEP 7 AT LEAST!

Just make sure you do it when the paint is cool (not cold) and in the shade. If it gets even a little warm, the clay will stick to the paint. LOTS of lube too.

ya claying is the way to go. If you have old wax that has gotten into a crack somewhere the clay will pull it right out. It worked great on my 2000 chevy.

Wow this sounds awsome. Should you bug and tar the bottom of the dog panels first? or is it okay just to wash it and the clay will get them off?

Get as much off as possible before using the clay...As the bar will pick up junk as you go...And it will continue to rub it into your paint.

Also...It's always a good idea to tear off a small chunk of clay and work with that. That way if you drop it (it WILL pick up dirt/rocks), you can toss it and tear off another chunk. One little pebble or chunk of dirt in the clay will scratch the hell out of your paint...So if you DO drop it, toss it immediately and get fresh clay.
