Buy through Ebay?

Does anyone have experience buying a truck through ebay? I have been dissapointed that not too many 8.1L CCSB exist in my area. I have found a few on ebay, but I have a very hard time trusting ebay. :flag: What do you guys think about buying through ebay?

I bought a '93 Olds Cutlass convertible on Ebay a few years ago. The car was what I had expected... and the price was better than anything I saw in the Trader Mags.

Look at the feedback rating for that dealer - if it's great, and the price is right, then feel confident that it'll be a safe buy. I bought my 2007 off of ebay. Well, kind of. I saw it on ebay and called the dealer and made the buy off-line. He was only 120 miles from my place.

We found our Regal 3860 boat on ebay but it was also at a local dealer and we ended up just buying it at the dealer

If you can see the vehicle in person, I don't see what can go wrong. And as others have said, you can end up getting it directly off the seller, and maybe save a few $$'s (seeing as they wont have to pay the eBay fees then)

But like anything,

Caveat Emptor !!

Basically, if the seller has a good feedback rating and has other vehicles he or she is also selling it will be a legitimate transaction. On the other hand, if it's a private seller you should take alot more precaution.

My last 5 vehicles, including my current truck, have come from Texas and Ebay. I have had no problems buying vehicles off of Ebay and I recommend it. The price of trucks around New Mexico is ridiculous versus what I can buy one out of Texas for.

Those of you who have bought from ebay, like ABQFirefighter, what did you do for transport? Did pick up the truck yourself, or did you have it delivered? I live in Nebraska and I also have seen some really good deals on trucks in texas, but I really don't want to drive down or fly down to texas to pick it up.

I have always flown out to pick them up (pretty cheap one-way flight). However, most of the sellers will have transport quotes for you or they can easily get them. I would guess anywhere from $500-$1000 from Texas to you, but that's a guess. Good Luck!

If you can personally see the truck or have someone you trust see the truck then I don't why not. Most vehicles on ebay motors sell well below market value and well below wholesale in most cases. If you can't do either, research the background of the seller. Contact (using feedback) at random, so of his past buyers, ask them about how he did and what type of deal he gave. Get the seller to take a load of pictures (including the odometer) of the truck and email them to you.
