The brake light on my dash is on and stays on. I bought a new fluid level switch and no help. Found that if you disconnect it or take the sensor out and just let it hang the light goes out. I have bled the brakes thuroughly and still no help. No leaks, pads good, brakes work great and no fault codes. It is a 2001 silverado. Any thoughts?

Make sure you parking brake is released fully!!

Parking brake is released, you can see the light get a little brighter when engaged and dimmer when disengaged. Also, with the sensor either disconnected or removed the light goes out and operates as it should.

TO JSBOSSERT: Mine will go out with ignition off. It also goes out if I disconnect the sensor or remove it from the reservoir.

Correction, it blinks when the parking brake is set. Sorry.

my parking brake was pissing me off like that too. Seems i had my power wire 4 gauge i believe...too close to the p-brake move the wire a little and presto no more light on the instrument cluster when the brake wasnt actually on. If you have an amp it could be the problem if not i dunno

I finally took the reservoir off. There is a "float" of some sort inside that was stuck. It was also very dirty inside of the reservoir. After cleaning and flushing the reservoir everything is working fine now. Hope maybe this will help someone else in the future.
