If you set it up correctly, with isolation, you won't get stranded in the middle of nowhere when one dies, most likely beneficial with a dual battery, which I think you have.

Diesels usually come with two batteries, and many run as 24 volt systems (which will become industry standard in the next few years for EVERY automobile).
