Nerf bars for an ext. cab

Recommended Posts

I'k looking for a set of polished stainless nerf bars for my HD. I like Luverne's, but I'm not sure if theyre ext. cab bars have 2 step pads per side. I think the ones for ec's with only one step pad per side are hideous.... SO what are some brands that match that description, and were can I get them for a good price? Thanks.

check over at www.truckcandy.com they usually have pretty good prices and free shipping. I had a set of Westin bars on my Grand Cherokee that had 2 individual steps per side

Is that basically how all the bars mount? It was kind of unclear to me, are the monted to the body or the frame? I've just seen some sets of nerf bars that wobble up and down if you grab them, and I do not want that.. Also, it doesnt say if the part of the bar where the step pads are is recessed or cut out. I know Westin (over priced) and Luvernes are. Does it really matter?

I have Luverne on mine. They have 2 step pads on each side. These were on my truck when I bought it, so can't help you with a source or price.

Here are some pics of the Nasta's on my HD. I've jumped up and down on them many a time and they don't budge!! I think the center bracket really helps in the support as well. Hope this helps!

Check out truckparts411.com, purchased stainless steel oval step tubes for about 175.00 plus shipping, they have welded ends and the steps are not recessed, I would recommend to anyone. Check out the picture Gallery and look for member gallery of my truck with the step bars under jlsk624. JOHN

Consider wheel-to-wheel bars, It's really nice to have a step up to the front of the bed for dealing with awkward loads. Westin doesn't make them for the xCab long bed, unfortunately, but other brands have them in stainless.

Well I saw a set of luvernes on a Toyota today and they didnt budge. I liked the way they look too. Those nasta's look great too, so I guess it I'll just see which one I can get cheaper...

I have the Nastas and agree with Bruce03Silverado that the stainless mounts and hardware is a plus. I paid about $275 for mine. I found a site that was selling a no name brand cheaper but can't remember where.

I bought a set of Nasta's for $299... The only thing I don't like about them is the look of those center brackets, and I can't see how much stronger they will make them. I plan on not putting the middle bracket on, and seeing how they work.

HMMM, I actually really like the center brackets and I've had a lot of people comment on liking them as well. Oh well. You'll be happy with them. I really love mine and with the lifetime warranty and stainless mounting kit it makes it that much better.

Raptor is the brand in my truck. Wheel-Wheel SS (magnet won't hold on). To steal from chevy their "Like a rock".

Now i am looking for Rubber bumper blocks to install onto the bumper. I had to PUSH pops truck Uphill off of a pole while he drove forward, across the hill, at least he had a thick rubber floormat in the truck to use as shock absorbent and scractch protetor. would love to find a rubber block to install for such a use. truck is used in construction/equipment towing. it might fall to it again to play Rescue Truck 3.0

First time i pulled a 18wheeler delivery truck out of some nasty mud. 6.0L 4:10 4wd has some d**n power to it. slapped it into 4lo and pulled him along before he even got started.. the guy directing us didn't notice the delivery driver wasn't ready. apparenty my truck pulled him along for a bit till he got into gear. 2nd was the above pole rescue.. whats next? pulling a 747 from solidifed concrete? ;) sure chevy.. you show it in your commercials but can it do it!?

anyhow about the rubber bumper blocks.. any ideas? they could be similer to the ones seen on various cop cars as well.

I don't know yet. I'm just guessing I wont like the middle bracket. I will put it on and see if I do, but I just kind of doubt it. Do you think they will be just as strong without the center bracket? From the looks if it, I don't know how much it can really help.

Hard to tell - I like the center bracket so I never tried it without them. I do know that I have jumped up and down on that thing (I'm 5'10" and a solid 205) and it didn't budge on bit. Maybe put them on without it and try it first and see how that goes. Two of my buddies just bought the Nasta's for their 1500's because they loved the looks and both of them commented on the center bracket and that they liked the idea plus having the stainless mounting kit.
