New Filter Time?! Quetions

So my next oil change should be comming up in a thousand or two thousand miles (2 weeks maybe), and that would put me at around 7k miles, do I need to change the air filter? I have never changed air filters before becuase all my cars before ran k&n that I just cleaned every 50,000.

 

So should I pickup a new paper filter, or should I bite the bullet and get a k&N drop in.

 

The only reason I have not got a k&n is becuase people says it does no good on my 4.3 as far as gains in performance.

zomg...dude you need to clean the K&N more than every 50k miles. Try when it looks dirty or 13k or so.

For the paper filter just change it when it looks dirty. I would change it every oil change, I mean really they're dirt cheap...

Depends a little on how you drive, but you shouldn't need on at 7,000, unless you do alot of off roading or live in a huge city. When I lived in NYC, I had to change it more often, like every 10,000, because of always being stuck in traffic. Here in NC, I can easy go 20,000. My wifes 05 4Runner has 19,000 miles on it so I decided to check the filter and it looks brand new.

Gm recommends changing the air and fuel filters at 15k.

OK now bashing here, believe it or not the regular Fram paper air filter is a quality filter. Just change it out every 15k miles.

 

Or you can go with the EaA air filter. It is getting really good results with oil analysis.
