2001 Chevy Silverado Power Locks

My 2001 Chevy Silverado Power Locks Quit. They would act up and sometimes not work. I thought at first it may be the battery. They will not work by either button or the keyless entry. The keyless buttons make the horn blow and parking lights come on but no door locks. It wouldn't be possible for both actuators to go at once would there?

Thanks Chuck

hard to say what is causing that. you say they were acting up, possible loose wire connection? check fuses.

I have a 2000 sierra that had same problem. Turned out to be the relay. Had it done at a shop, but I believe the relay is located on drivers side of dash. Open up drivers door, and remove cover from dash.

Could you hear the relays click? I can hear mine, someone had told me that that meant they were ok.

It is a fairly simple system, the odds of both switches, the key fob, and both actuators failing at the same time are pretty small. I don't think the relays cost that much. You can take a few hours to remove the switches and test them, or you can replace the relay in less than two minutes. Start with the easy stuff.

Curuious if you found a fix. I have the same problem with my 2000 Suburan 2500. My extra problem is that they work fine for months, then it will rain, and they go out for a couple of weeks, then return. Replaced the relay, and it helped for a while, but then resumed.

I figure it is a short or exposed wire somewhere, but I can't recreate the problem with a water hose, no matter where I spray. Have taken it to the dealer several times, but they can't figure it out. They just want to continue replacing the relay, which seems to be only a temporary fix.

I have 2008 Z71 Crew Cab that 3 of the door locks don't work. I have 64k miles so it's not under warranty. Everyone is telling me the actuators are out. Seems to be issue with a lot of people.

Does anyone know what dealer will charge?
