Dealership Repairs For Manual Trannies

My Dad got his 1978 Chev. K20 4spd. clutch replaced two times in a year. The first time because the fork fell off and ruined the pressure plate, and the seconded tine the clutch could not release and got replaced for free. Three years later, The truck would not disengage. I pulled the engine and removed the clutch. I found a driven disk that has been cracked nearly in half and messed up input splines. The pressure plate has bent fingers and worn tips. Then i looked at the pilot bearing, saw mounds of bronze powder and a bearing with a ridge inside where the bearing should be. Insult to injury, the bell housing cracked and a corner fell off and is laying on the ground. This was done at a local GM Goodwrench dealership, and if I need repairs for my 2005 GMC with a NV 3500, should i rely on getting my truck fixed at any GM dealership or should I do it. I don't want the failures of my Dad's truck to happen of my truck. Just wanted to let you all know about my horror story on Friday the 13th. I'll post pictures of the clutch if you ask and the bell housing too.
