Speed Limiter

If I get a Wait4Me PCM tune, will they be able to remove the speed limiter? 98 is just lame.

Also, will it cost extra for them to reprogram it for bigger tires?

Thanks.

The dealer does this or can I take mine somewhere to get it done?

Some will some won't. The ones that will, will only do it if you have tires on it rated for the speed.

Not sure what your asking. The dealer should recalibrate your speedo for tire changes, I dont see why they wouldnt. But no, dealers will not remove the top speed limiter. Dealers wont do anything to the PCM to modify your vehicles factory performance.

98 MPH is lame on a 5000 pound 4X4 with marginal brakes? Are you kidding me? You actually want to drive one of these trucks over 100MPH? I could see if you did some suspension work - well a lot of suspension work - put some nice tires on, upgraded the brakes and steering - and found someplace legal to do it. Otherwise, it's just very stupid and very dangerous - and any cop that might be lucky enough to catch you doing it is going to not only arrest you but also impound your truck AND show up in court to make sure you get screwed.... you can count on that. Don't mean to lecture - but man.... use your head.

I don't know about your brakes, but mine work just fine.

Someone looking for a corvette? LOL! C'mon, guys......it's a PICKUP! If you want to mod it for tires, and torque for towing, then that's GREAT!!

BUT speed????? I dunno......respectfully, that's plain wrong for this kind of vehicle.

With regards to the tune, I sent them an email a couple of days ago, and haven't heard back yet.....it looks like a good investment!

With bigger tires, though......make sure you can full turn without rubbing.

Ever check out the stopping distances those bad boys put out at 70MPH? Now, compare the stopping distance of your truck to a car with a good set of brakes. Now, imagine the distance it would be from 100MPH. Then at 115MPH. Then pretend your mother or your wife or your kid is in that car up ahead or walking near the road because their car broke down - or whatever. Would you want me tear assing by at 100MPH in a 5000 pound truck that is nowhere near as stable as a car? Me neither. The brakes are good for a truck - for a truck.

I know my truck could easily go 120, but I'd never know because my speedometer only goes to 100mph..

I'll just take Justin's word that he moved it up. Not to mention it's probably not the best idea with an 8 year old aluminum drive shaft.
