Can Anyone Help Me Out With This Problem

Ok, so I got my fuel pump problem figured out. It was the connection to the ignition switch on the steering column, not the key switch, but the ignition switch that the wires all connect to from the trucks wiring harness. Yea ok, so I had a friend come over and help me out and we found the problem, and that was the problem. My friend was testing wires with his wire tester and we followed the one wire all the way to the steering column, and then I started to pull the connectors out from the switch and then the fuel pump came on. and that was it, and the starter was working, but now I am having a problem with the one purple wire that goes to the solenoid for the starter. This wire is not getting any power to it from the ignition switch. And I don't get it. Because my old switch, it was all corroded and sometimes the starter would work, which means this one purple wire I am talking about was getting power, but now that I replaced the switch, this purple wire is not getting any power, the fuel pump comes on everytime I turn the key on, but the one wire for the solenoid to activate the starter, its not getting any power to it, and I don't know why. I used my wire tester to test the wires, and I put it at the start on the ignition switch and there is no power coming from there at all, so I am wondering if this switch has a bad starter tab that the wire connects to. The wire is good, but it could be bad, but I touched the wire to a wire that was hot, and this purple wire had power to it, but when its not touching one, there is not power, and I can't try to wire up a wire from a hot one to this one, because it won't work right. And right now I don't know what to do? Should I buy I new ignition switch, or what? And if I need to buy a new ignition switch, where can I buy one at? I tried to look on ebay and it comes up with the key switch, not the ignition switch for the wires? Anyone know, or can help me here, please? If you don't understand, ask me and I'll try to explain this better.

any part store has a new ignition switch and theyre not that expensive...

have you tried adjusting it in the slotted holes to make sure the rod is pushing all the way in to close the starter contacts?

Yea, I checked that, but I think I found out why it wasn't turning over. Well, my truck has a 2 inch or an inch body lift on it, so that lifts the steering column with the body, and so I saw there were another set of holes drilled in the firewall for the steering column that are like an inch down from the original ones, and so I had my steering column in the origianal spot and the linkage was pulled up into the reverse gear, but we still tried to start it after it was put into park, and it still didn't turn over, but I think its the solenoid, so I'm going to replace the solenoid and see what happenes and if that don't work, then I'll buy a brand new ignition switch.
