Tfp Switch Ripoff?

Back in Feb. while towing our trailer into Vegas, the tranny hesitated greatly at each stop after leaving the freeway. The SES light went on. We limped into Sam's Town RV park and the next day I went to a dealer to find the trouble. I have an'02 2500 HD Duramax/Allison 4 wd CrewCab.

While driving around town the next day, the SES light stayed off. I found a dealer who could fix it on a Monday (holiday). The problem was a malfunctioning TFP switch. I was told the tranny must be pulled since the switch was in the tranny. The repair was made and we went home with no problems. While telling the story to my regular mechanic, he checked the tranny for a small, pesky leak and said he saw no signs that the tranny was actually pulled. No tool marks etc. He said the main seal should have been replaced which would have fixed the pesky leak. He does not believe the tranny was pulled.

I tossed the paperwork with the code from a GM website but here's what it says on the receipt from the GMC dealer which did the repair; "102016 SES light on due to a malfunctioning TFP switch. Replaced faulty switch in trans, topped fluid and road tested. TFP no longer set any codes." The part number is 29542585 4055. This repair cost me $500.00 and I have had no problems since except the leak which was present since January.

Was I ripped off? Can the tranny be pulled without leaving tool marks? What else might have caused the hesitation? If I have been ripped off, do I go straight to GM, my local dealer or the dealer who did the repair?

You would think that even after 4 months there would still be some marks around the bolts they would have pulled. Good luck proving they didn't pull it this far after the fact.
